In 2004, owner and founder Paul Hemming was inspired to create greenest nightclub in the world. What resulted from his vision was the Zen Compound, an entertainment complex dedicated to sustainability and environmentally conscious. Zen Compound is home to Temple Nightclub and Ki Sushi, a sustainable sushi and Izakaya bar.

Eco-Clubbing at Its Best

As San Francisco’s first award-winning Green venue, Temple Nightclub is one of the more progressive dance clubs in San Francisco. Working with Sustainable Dance Club, Temple Nightclub features a permanent, sustainable dance floor. It creates an interactive dance experience for everyone, as the energy from dancers is converted to electricity, and used to illuminate the dance floor. It’s the next step in combining environmental consciousness and an exhilarating time on the dance floor!

More than just a night club, Temple Nightclub and Zen Compound is also home to numerous audio and visual projects, green education, and sustainable living. Current projects include:

Temple Music Group – Zen Compound’s record label, working with Bay Area electronic music DJs and producers to support emerging talent, electronic music veterans in a pro-artist creative environment. Temple Music Group also supports the Zen Compound mission of employing green practices in their processes.

Zen City Records – A vinyl record store that offering a variety of electronic music.

Zen Compound FM – Zen Compound’s internet radio station, and a forum for Bay Area DJs and producers to share their music, ideas, and apply their creative freedom.

Temple TV – Temple Nightclub’s in-house video production team, highlighting Temple events, DJs, and raising environmental awareness.

Urban Montage Gallery – An art gallery that exhibits the work of contemporary artists who constantly trying to push the boundaries and transcend beyond the traditional interpretations of contemporary art.

Urban Rooftop Garden – Part of Ki Sushi’s continuing effort to stay sustainable, the Urban Rooftop Garden provides some of the ingredients that are part of the menu.

Zenter – A holistic healing center.
